Dentures and Partials
Dentures and partials are a reasonably priced and reliable method to rebuild virtually any number of missing teeth. They have an extensive history of achievement and remain to earn a place in the list of top restorative dentistry options. While tooth loss naturally evokes strong feelings, Dr. Z of Pristine Smiles is here to patiently guide her Knoxville area patients through this process with kindness, compassion, and multiple treatment options.
Full vs. Partial Dentures: What’s the difference?
By definition, dentures are removable dental restorations for missing teeth. Dr. Z suggests complete dentures to patients who are missing an entire row (upper or lower) of teeth. On the other hand, our Knoxville restorative dentist suggests partial dentures to fill in gaps and improve speaking and talking abilities for those missing a few teeth.
Are dentures right for me?
Whether you need partial or complete dentures, Dr. Z can help you find a tooth replacement solution designed specifically for you. Dentures have one of the highest candidacy rates. If you have missing teeth, then you could likely benefit from dentures.
They are ideal for those who cannot (or don’t want to) withstand the months-long, intensive recovery periods since Dr. Z can place them in as few as two appointments. Plus, partials and dentures are more likely to be covered by dental insurance (but please speak with your provider about your personal coverage).
Procedure Expectations
At your denture consultation in Knoxville, Dr. Z will devise a treatment plan to help you feel more confident, comfortable, and functional about your smile. Sometimes, treatment plans start with pulling a tooth (teeth) if they cannot be saved through other restorative means. After the preparation stage, Dr. Z will take impressions of what’s left of your teeth and send them to a dental laboratory for fabrication. When they arrive back at our office, a team member will can you in for a final fitting and adjustment.
Treatment Maintenance
Full and partial dentures require extra care and careful handling to keep them looking and feeling their best. We suggest brushing them daily, cleaning your mouth, and soaking the appliance overnight.
Also, if you feel like your denture is becoming loose over time, this is normal but needs to be addressed to avoid sores and dysfunction. When this happens, Dr. Z can adjust your dentures to ensure they fit great.
